MoTab Choir Opportunity

Let me answer some of your questions to begin with. The weather is the same here, high 80's and the humidity is just depending upon my luck. I haven't seen any tornadoes yet but I think last Wednesday night we had a thunder storm so it was way cool. Except I really didn't have the desire or the energy to stay up and look at it. I'm always dead tired by the end of the day.

I want to let you know that I really appreciate the packages you sent me mom! But really you don't have to do that. It cost a lot of money to send packages so you can just save it for special occasions. Besides I enjoy living on a budget it really brings out the needs. I'm so happy that Jared is doing something instead of studying all the time. I hope he still aims for BYU-I. I'm expecting him to be there when I get back. Now the reason I didn't send any pictures last week was because I forgot the camera at home so I'll send it this week.

You're not going to believe what happen to me this week :) I'll tell you later. Ohh about tracting it doesn't really matter if it's raining or sunny, if we have to  tract we will tract. I have learned that the planner I use daily isn't really MY planner it's the Lord's planner.. I will never know if appointment will fall through or not. So I have accepted that and allow the Lord's to work through me. I learned that by studying the scriptures. really Alma when he was in bondage and people didn't let him pray. I must admit I had tough days but it's nothing I can't handle for the Lord doesn't command things which can't be accomplished.

Now I will tell you all about my week and PICTURES. [Today I'm going to Hibachi and have lunch with Trevor Marler- Trevor is preparing for his mission but he' hesitant.]

So this week was pretty stressful because we had the Mormon Tabernacle Choir coming to Indiana. They haven't been here for 102 years. So we were given tickets to find investigators to come with us. Our initial investigator whom we have intended to take with us decided to be flakey (typical). So we panic and stressed out because we wanted to go really bad. Well, Elder Brezenski was really looking forward to it. We tried everything we could and finally we decided to ask Cortney - our only solid investigator and she said she would but prior to the concert probably 5 minutes before the ride arrives she got sick and her baby was sick as well.. So we weren't very happy with Satan, I can tell you that. However, we called President Collins and see what we should do and he allowed us to go anyway. He's such a good president. Love him! Sadly he's leaving next week :( I'm going to miss him. and he didn't even take me out to Thai food!

Anyway we did a lot of knocking and learning how to find more people so we'll try that this week. I hope that we can do something effective.

Love

Trust in the Spirit

Well this week has been going a lot quicker. We switched up our planning and ways to talk to people. I can tell you that this week I have done nothing but trust in the spirit. I talked to everyone well all whom willing to talk to me. We offer services and we have plenty of services to do this week.

Cortney is still going strong. Although she missed Church last week because Harlee; her baby was teething so she didn't get any sleep. She's still praying and reading and she has notice the different in her life and has felt the absent of the spirit when we leave. I mean it's amazing how much she learns.

Last Sunday we went to Scout Court of Honor. It was really neat experience. I think it's fun how they had to challenge one another. Sister Marler provided the sweets so YES I had plenty of brownie bites and cup cakes.. I don't think it was the best Idea but oh well especially after Fast Sunday.

Something that I did experience this week that wasn't too great was the fact that I got honked at 3 times.. probably because I was riding between the line.. Ops and I got flipped off because we agree to the guy who was yelling "No one loves you" and Elder Brezenski said "We know". Lastly, some dude literally took a left turn so he can spit at us... Luckily he missed. I have met 2 bash-ers so far. However, I'm too dumb to really know what he's saying so I had no problem facing him. My companion on the other hand had a little difficulties. I just stood there like a tree and testify. I'm sure I ticked him off even more hahaha.

Hey Dad, I took you advice about trying to see the positive in people and believe it or not. You're right. there are plenty of good in him and in others. I have learned so much about people.

Rejection and Trying Not To Give-Up

A hand-written letter home:

5/13
  • I'm getting used to rejection going door to door. It might prepare me for dates in the future, just kidding! :)
  • I've learned to listen more, surprised huh?
  • Trying to deal with my training elder giving up on the people we are trying to teach. Kind of depressing and hoping that things pick up soon.
  • I'm getting used to living in the ghetto, all the lost, misery and living under the devil, or witchcraft if you will.
  • Hoping that by serving with my heart, my prayers will be answered.

Our Zone at Lafeyette. We had a BBQ/activity day.

Patience and Hope

Yesterday was Memorial Day so the library was closed :( but we get an hour to make up that time today :)

The people we're teaching are few but the one that probably need prayers is Cortney and her family! She's so solid, she's 24 and have 4 children. I think her son is like 10 or something i'm not sure. But he's the oldest. She wants to come to church and always attentive. She kept all of our commitments however, the issue she's having is work. She works as a CNA down at the nursing home here. She works 16 hours on Saturday and Sunday so we've been praying for her schedule to change and she mentioned it yesterday that she wants to attend church and make that next step to follow Christ. Anyway that's all we have so far the rest are just here and there.

My companion/trainer name is Elder Brezenski, Scotti. He's from Misoula MT. He's going to BYUI as soon as he gets back home. I'm not really sure if he knows what he wants to major in just yet but he wants to find a wife that's for sure hah. The indy 500 is like their god here. it's insane. I didn't have a chance to really find out more about it but it's really popular here.

So far on my mission, I have learned a lot about Patience. Actually this week I have a personal goal of study more about Patience and Hope. I know that I must have faith in the Lord and that He will provide a way as long as I allow Him to work through me. However, it's so challenging when you continuously getting rejected. It's a challenge to keep faith but as the Scripture says, the only reason we face trials is to be tested of faith. Sometimes it's hard to stay on top when all you see is the day ahead or even just the hour ahead of you. But having eternal perspective does help out with the Work. just gotta do my best! Being out here definitely help me out with Patience

At this point I really enjoy the members here. Although they could use a little more missionary work motivation but they're all wonderful people. Definitely want to come back to Kokomo and visit again. Sister Marler Also Known As Mama Marler is a Saint!
In closing, Elder Drake is going home in August and I asked him to visit you guys so he might stop by on his way home. He's awesome! he's our zone leader right now and his conversion story is amazing! so just a heads-up he might stop by.

Well that's all for this week. Nothing new just slow but it's moving.

Love,
Elder Uthaichai
